HM Revenue & Customs have introduced their new penalty structure for tax payers who, for whatever reason, fail to file their Self Assessment forms in line with the rules. The new late filing penalties are upsetting a lot of people who had become used to the old system where the fine was reduced to £nil once the outstanding forms were eventually filed if it were shown there was no tax liability, or that all the tax had been paid by the 31st January
I have been reviewing the various reports I have written over the years and I came across my Recession Busting Tips report that was written in 2008 as we started the steady sink into the current recession. Having re-read it I think the topics in there are as relevant today as they were 4 years ago
That is a question to ponder on….
Of course you would say YES – but would HMRC agree??
Our beloved government has issued a number of new tools on the HMRC website to allow you to test your records…
Here is a cheery Easter message about more changes introduced by our caring/sharing government…
HMRC are digging themselves deeper into our lives with the changes to the Stamp Duty Land Tax provisions. Every property transaction since April 2011 has to be accompanied by a unique identifier of the lead purchaser…
Just recently I have been asked about setting up an LLP (Limited Liability Partnership) for a potential client. Very quickly it became obvious that there was a misconception about terminology. They were asking about an LLP but things that were being mentioned referred directly to a Limited Company.
So what is the difference?
I can’t believe that another year is drawing to a close. I suppose it must be a sign of old age that the years are accelerating.
I also can’t believe all the changes we have endured over the last 12 months. This time last year we were eagerly looking forward to a general election to replace the unelected prime minister Gordon Brown. Now I look back at the election, the days of uncertainty, the historic coalition starting – and wonder where it all went wrong.
I am sorry to bother you again today but I suddenly realized in upgrading the theme that I had turned off the most important plug-in of all – the one that notifies you when there is a new post.
If this is the first time you have heard from me this week, there are a couple of posts before this one that y0u many be interested in reading. Please pop over to the site and have a look!
Regular visitors will (hopefully) have noticed a radical change in the look of the website recently. A client of mine, Ash Goodman, a wordpress expert based in the Philippines showed me a wordpress theme he had developed that was just about to go on general release. For a while I have been looking for an elegant, uncluttered, professional theme that was easy to manipulate, easy to add to and easy to live with generally.
I received this notice today from the Federation of Small Business about a free course for people who work above ground level. The Health & Safety Executive is generally regarded as a pain after an accident has occured but here is a chance to get advice before a tradegy and possibly learn how to avoid one. We don’t often get such relevant, detailed courses in this area so if working above ground applies to you in could be in your interest to attend!
Following on with a lot of recent discussions I have been having, it will be very useful for me to know which On-Line sites people are using so that I can become familiar with them prior to accounts time! So please have a look at my one question Poll and be kind enough to let me know which, if any, you are using.
