Newsletters Are Being Well Received

Just a quick post today to advise everyone that the new series of Tax Tips and News newsletters being sent out on the 1st day of each month are becoming very popular with readers and makes the whole exercise worthwhile for me!

All you have to do to receive your monthly Tax Tips and News newsletter is register as a member on the site here – for FREE – and you will then receive these useful (other people’s words – not mine) and informative emails from the 1st of the next month.  You can always ask me for copies of past ones – the exercise started in April 2010 and with an extra one for the budget, the 6th edition is due out on the 1st August 2010.

I am aware this is the season for holidays – but the newsletters will be sitting in your inbox when you return – they are not timed to self destruct if you don’t download them immediately!

If you are going on your holidays soon – have a great time – I will be back to posting a lot more regularly at the end of August – no I am not going away for the month – it is just a very busy time for me here.  I have just registered as a partner with Xero online accountancy system and there will be a lot more about that over the next few weeks.  It has taken me a long time to settle on just one of the many really good online sites that exist, but Xero is the easiest to use, the most flexible and growing very quickly because of those reasons.  It even handles the VAT flat rate scheme without blinking!

I can set you up with a demo account if you would like to have a look around Xero and then you will qualify for preferential pricing if you keep your account on.  Again, more details of that later!

I am a qualified Certified Practising Accountant having passed my final exams way back in 1981. I actually can’t believe that was 37 years ago!! Anyway, I am now in my 60’s and I have been running my own business since May 1983. And before you ask, no, I have never regretted a moment of it! Part of the membership requirements of my professional body now dictate that I spend quite a lot of time on “CPD” - continuing professional education (one of their better ideas) - and over the last two years I decided to study business growth and marketing. I have learnt such a lot and that knowledge has radically changed my old “accountants” approach to business. It has made such a difference to the way I work and operate I feel that I just have to pass on this knowledge. It is simply too powerful to hold back!! - but I will try and do it in simple terms rather than expecting you to spend hours, as I had to, working through the difficult language that trainers seem to use to pass on their concepts. I hope you find the blog a useful resource and interesting place to visit as the months pass. I will do my best to keep up the flow - but if there are any topics you would like me to cover, then please let me know. Ray Stewart
