What Are Subscribers For?

Together we can reach the stars

I was looking in the back end of this website yesterday and I was very pleasantly surprised about just how many people have actually bothered to subscribe to this site.  Firstly then – thank you everyone for your support.  Secondly – as there is now a substantial community registered – what about a couple of you coming forward and writing some guest posts to provide a little relief from me??

I would love to receive (even one) post(s) from anywhere in the world about subjects that we all may find interesting and helpful.  There are even a number of accountants registered so different slants on tax/accounting issues will be welcome for the benefit of all!

Don’t be shy!

I am waiting for some brilliant designs from our in-house (now BA Hons) Graphic Designer Amberley for each of the 53 seminars that I am preparing to give, as I am also thinking about doing them as a series of Webinars – or Google Hangouts if I can work out the wrinkles I am experiencing with Hangouts.  I prefer the idea of Hangouts as they are free, and they are from Google – but you know what “free” means now? It seems synonymous with rubbish.  So watch this space – it is very much a work in progress!

Subscribers Then?

Now there are such a number registered, what can I do with/for them?

I am keen to make this site as useful and informative as possible but it has been a while since I had any suggestions for articles.  I mostly receive requests for little help videos for Xero.  I don’t put these on YouTube or here because mostly they involve me working on someone’s Xero account directly and because of the power of Xero each screen shows a fair bit about the business.  To put these on public display would not therefore be appropriate.

However, if there are any questions that you may have about using Xero or converting to Xero, please let me know because I may be able to produce some videos using the demo business Xero have set up to resolve questions that are general.  I am also happy to produce a video just for you if you don’t want the world to know who you are and what issues you are having!

I am also looking at doing some video testimonials soon.  The reason is because I am looking to justify buying a GoPro video camera (or similar) that I can use with a model aircraft to film dramatic shots of our locality.  So there has to be a bit of genuine business use too!

Come on Then!

A challenge for you – get in touch!

I am a qualified Certified Practising Accountant having passed my final exams way back in 1981. I actually can’t believe that was 37 years ago!! Anyway, I am now in my 60’s and I have been running my own business since May 1983. And before you ask, no, I have never regretted a moment of it! Part of the membership requirements of my professional body now dictate that I spend quite a lot of time on “CPD” - continuing professional education (one of their better ideas) - and over the last two years I decided to study business growth and marketing. I have learnt such a lot and that knowledge has radically changed my old “accountants” approach to business. It has made such a difference to the way I work and operate I feel that I just have to pass on this knowledge. It is simply too powerful to hold back!! - but I will try and do it in simple terms rather than expecting you to spend hours, as I had to, working through the difficult language that trainers seem to use to pass on their concepts. I hope you find the blog a useful resource and interesting place to visit as the months pass. I will do my best to keep up the flow - but if there are any topics you would like me to cover, then please let me know. Ray Stewart
