After a few weeks of issues with the website things have finally settled down. For many years of using a membership based site I have finally given up trying to resolve the problems that the plugin caused and the whole site is now available to all. The main pages that were “hidden” without a basic registration were the Business and Tax Resource pages. These include all kinds of useful forms, reports and calculators for all sorts of things from links to software to tax calculations.

Instead of the membership site structure, and for how long I am not sure, I have put a social media connector on which seems popular these days and will allow better integration with me, the website and Facebook etc. If it causes any issues please do not hesitate to let me know.

I still have plans for some Business Builder seminars which I will try and fit in February or March 2016 to which all current clients and any interested local business people will be welcome. It is something that doesn’t seem to have been catered for locally so I am hoping there will be more than just me turn up at the first one. More on that a bit later.

I am also planning on separating this website from the business. This site was always meant to be my musings and opinions but in recent years has become a heavy combined site that doesn’t really do either job well. So will soon have a “proper” business website for an Accountancy and Business Services business and this site will revert to me. All the interesting stuff will happen here. The idea of a new and separate company site is purely marketing and awareness raising – something we all need to do in the 21st Century. It will also make the email address that everyone sees tie up with a professional website. Something that up to now has been a source of merriment to some for the confusion it currently causes.

I will let you know when the new site is up – I am just putting together some stuff to go in it but I am hopeful it will be up by Christmas!

Lastly, I have just sent out the December 2015 newsletter today. This is a little late so apologies for that. Something that has (after some years) just occurred to me is that this website and the newsletter engine have two separate sign up pages – and never have the two mixed. So if you didn’t get the newsletter and after seeing the tasters on the Newsletter page you would like to in future, please complete the signup box on that page and you will go onto the correct list for newsletters.

I am a qualified Certified Practising Accountant having passed my final exams way back in 1981. I actually can’t believe that was 37 years ago!! Anyway, I am now in my 60’s and I have been running my own business since May 1983. And before you ask, no, I have never regretted a moment of it! Part of the membership requirements of my professional body now dictate that I spend quite a lot of time on “CPD” - continuing professional education (one of their better ideas) - and over the last two years I decided to study business growth and marketing. I have learnt such a lot and that knowledge has radically changed my old “accountants” approach to business. It has made such a difference to the way I work and operate I feel that I just have to pass on this knowledge. It is simply too powerful to hold back!! - but I will try and do it in simple terms rather than expecting you to spend hours, as I had to, working through the difficult language that trainers seem to use to pass on their concepts. I hope you find the blog a useful resource and interesting place to visit as the months pass. I will do my best to keep up the flow - but if there are any topics you would like me to cover, then please let me know. Ray Stewart
